CAD/CAM is great. It is the best method for many kinds of machining. Especially complex 3D shapes and multi axis machines. Yet for a one-off part, when you need a simple part fast, a fixture, or a modification to an existing part, you don't need or want to spend time drawing anything. Yet many shop floor conversational solutions haven't really improved much over the years. Some even feel like they are moving backwards. So we designed the control that we want to use. That we do use every day. We don't like to manually write G-Code. We don't want to calculate feeds and speeds, or fuss over a thread mill, or be told we need $2000 of RAM to even unlock a basic feature you would assume they all have by now. So we don't. We use this app instead. And hopefully you will find it as useful as we do. It is designed to produce Fanuc compatible G-Code and tested on a DMG Mori 1100. It is not designed to make a novice look like a machinist. However it will help a machinist save time and add versatility to a VMC.

AR and On Screen Simulation
Simulation is critical to ensuring input is correct. If something is wrong here, you don't want to it on the machine. So we provide multiple ways for you to examine your code. Walk around the cutting paths in AR or using your fingers on your screen.
Automatic Tool Selection
MoCoNC is smart enough to look through your tool list and suggest the tooling and parameters needed for the job. You can then change these parameters or change the tool and it will re-calculate for the new tool.
No Internet Required
All data is backed up to the cloud when it is available. But if your internet is down or just not available, you can still complete projects. Tool, material, and project data is passively backed up to your own personal iCloud account. We have no access to this data. Nor do we collect any data from you.
FAQs
What machines are compatible?
The App is currently designed for modern FANUC compatible machines. It is tested on a DMG Mori 1100 and used daily. We highly recommend "cutting air" (going through the motions without cutting any actual material) to ensure compatibility and familiarity. If you detect some quirk, let us know and we can probably resolve it.
How do I transfer a program to my machine?
If you are lucky enough to have the machine on your own network, you can use your iCloud Drive. But any USB drive that is also compatible with your mobile device can be used. We use a SanDisk drive the has a USB on one end and a Lightning connector on the other. No proprietary device is needed.
How often are there updates to the App?
We hope to add new features often. We also take suggestions. Although this is the type of app that needs to be tested well before releasing an update. We use this app daily ourselves and actively find new features or areas of refinement.
What if I use multiple machines?
The app has a "Crib" feature that can be used to separate tooling groups or machines. You can restrict a program to selecting only the tools and specifications of a given crib.

The original idea was to create some educational software that might help push kids and young adults toward engineering. But we are engineers and never played with educational software. We played with toys and would take them apart to see how they worked. So that's basically what we did here. We took apart a classic toy to show how it works and made a game to test your skill with it.
